During storms, high water levels and wind-energized waves have dramatically changed the Lake Michigan shoreline. Twenty, thirty, even forty feet of sand dune have been chopped away, leaving incredibly high and steep drop offs. When gravity enters the fray, what was once on the top of the dune or at street level finds itself at the bottom. That is the inspiration for “Erosion, a collection of gravity formed vessels.” The shape of these vessels is created in a kiln using heat, gravity, and time. Each piece is handmade and unique.
