This artistic necklace is made of Tagua which is a palm nut found in the tropical areas of South America. It is dried for about three months after which time the Tagua shells are split open to reveal and remove the hardened nut. Each Tagua nut is hand cut to the desired shape and size. The nut is washed and then dried for 2-3 weeks and then soaked in a boiling dye for 2 days until they reach their desired color. Each piece is then assembled, arranged and designed by local artisans, helping to provide income for rural people in need.
Adjustable leather tie.
