My abstract landscapes are playful, layered and intended to evoke joy. The trees are created using black-and-white ephemera: copies of my Italian grandmother's handwritten recipes, bold typography, torn magazine pages. Underneath the color and texture, there are more layers of memory — the way our family history sits beneath everything we grow into, just like the roots of the trees that we can’t see on the surface. The beach umbrellas say come sit awhile. And above it all, the birds — for me, they mean trusting what you can't fully explain and gaining a new perspective. Together, these pieces contain joy: the deep, layered kind that comes from where we're rooted, and the peaceful kind that comes from just being in nature.
